Now into its third year the collector car magazine Magneto goes from strength to strength, Its reputation for excellent writing and bold, creative design has only been enhanced. Peter Allen’s art direction won the PPA and BSME designer of the year awards for the work you see here.

Peter Allen Design created a permanent display for Motorsport UK’s new offices at Bicester Heritage. Featuring a timeline detailing the history of British motorsport and Motorsport UK’s role in cultivating the many disciplines of motor racing. The display runs over six walls of the reception and public areas of the building.

Published by Hothouse Media in partnership with the Pebble Beach Concours, this lavish, oversized, 240 page book is a celebration of the very best of the Pebble Beach Concours: the amazing cars, the great collectors, the judges and the partners that have enabled this annual event to have remained at the pinnacle of the historic motoring movement for so many years.

Parkers.co.uk is one of the largest automotive websites in the country.  Peter Allen Design was tasked with improving the accessibility and vibrancy of the site without committing to a full root and branch rebuild. We devised a range of infographics to easily communicate the myriad of facts and opinion on each car. We also created a group of icons to help navigation and to give the site a modern and fresh feel. The work also included redesigning the covers of the print version of Parkers.

Berkeley Research Group is a leading global strategic advisory and expert consulting firm. They wanted their M&A disputes research paper to be fresh, modern and easy to understand. We deployed a clean flexible grid that allows colourful infographics to explain the complex merger and acquisition models.

We have produced and directed numerous videos, applying the same consumer (or client) focus that we give to our graphic design projects. Here are just a few.

We created a full set of social media templates for Fiskens of London. Each post can be created without pro apps and the Fiskens team didn’t require any extra training.

The objective was to create one of the world’s most desirable lifestyle magazines. I commissioned some of the best photographers in the world to produce arresting, exquisite images. Bespoke fonts were created and combined with a Swedish-inspired modernist layout to ensure the magazine held true to it Volvo branding. The magazine, called LIV, is the world’s biggest magazine publishing projects with a global circulation of 1.5 million. It is published in 21 languages in more than 50 countries.

The Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace is one of the most exclusive concours events in the world. We designed the programme to reflect the events elite standing in the concours world. The format is an oversized square shape with bespoke illustrations and a sophisticated design grid to allow the content to breathe.

Commissioned by Cisco Systems analytics department via the content marketing agency Furthr to display complex information of the markets Cisco compete in. I wanted to make it easy to understand, fun and themed on current cultural references so there was no chance of the consumer losing interest.

Commissioned by Aviva insurance via the content marketing agency Furthr. A series of infographics explain some of the business’s complex operations and services in a manner that readers can absorb quickly and easily. Understanding and trust in the business is therefore increased for both customers and investors.

This report, by the Volvo Car Corporation, was produced for the September Paris Motor Show. The communication explains Volvo’s future strategy of producing sustainable, premium cars. The design echoes the cool, simplicity of the Swedish carmakers brand values, with soft earthy colours, elegant layouts and innovative infographics.

Catalyst is the recently launched Chartered Institute of Marketing magazine. The editor commissioned three full spread infographic features per issue to be written by Andy Pemberton at the content marketing agency Furthr. My job was to turn these complex global marketing stories into easily understandable graphics.

I worked with Haymarket Network’s Martin Tullet and Robert Jeffery on the redesign of the recently acquired People Management magazine. The title is the monthly publication for Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development members. Martin and Robert wanted to make the magazine more indispensable and current. Bold and confident typography gave stories impact and a must read feel. Grids, headline and quote styles were devised to give the pages energy and gravitas on what could be perceived as quite dry subject matter. Kelly Flood art directed the live issues which went onto pick up several design awards.

This needed to reflect the shift in tastes of modern car enthusiasts who are now obsessed with car technology as well as performance. The new cutting-edge premium look reflects the technological emphasis, and three new regular sections were given distinctive, different looks. Infographics and graphics are used to explain the new automotive technology. I developed a new philosophy of picture usage, where fewer images are used bigger to create impact and increase the premium look. On the cover the logo is now supported by a background solid colour to create a distinctive presence on the newsstand.
